Best of the West
By Ellie Hahn
Thursday, May 9, was Best of the West for track. Seton came out on top, beating McAully for the first time ever. Head coach Karen Berndt stated, “It was awesome to watch how every single one of the girls stepped up and responded to the pressure. It was a true team victory and the coaches could not be any happier at the position we are in heading in to the GGCL meet where we will have to step it up again.” The meet ended up coming down to the last race, the 4×400, with Seton leading the meet by a half a point. The 4×400 runners, Junior Brook Schleben, Senior Jocelyn Evans, Sophomore Maria Torok, and Senior Jessie Woeste, ran the best race they could with a time of 4:12.33 coming in first and securing Seton’s win. Another highlight of the meet came with Junior Loretta Blaut, who jumped 5 feet 7 inches to tie Seton’s school record and while also setting the Best of the West meet record. Come out and support Seton’s Track and Field next Wednesday at 4 and Friday at 5 at La Salle High School as they compete for a top spot in their league meet!
