A Change in Seton Softball
By: Taylor Morano
The Seton softball program has a new varsity head coach, Chrissy Martini. Martini is a 1997 graduate from McCauley High School where she was a member of the NSA National Championship team in 1997 as well as the USSSA National Championship team in 2000. She then went on to play softball for Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She majored in marketing, but then switched careers after completing her master’s degree in teaching and began coaching and teaching at the high school level. She has been teaching high school Spanish for 9 years at North College Hill High School.
During her college career alone she received the MVP award at the UNC – Wilmington Invitational in 2000. She also received the most Improved Player Award from Miami University in 2000. In 2001 she was named a member of the USSSA All World Team.
Anyone interested in playing softball in the spring was encouraged to go to a pre-season meeting Monday September 30th where they had the chance to meet Martini and also sign up for individual skill instruction workouts and conditioning sessions. At the meeting Martini said that she is very excited and grateful for the opportunity she has to coach here at Seton and encourages anyone with any interests in playing softball to attend any upcoming meetings or conditioning.
