Laura Hofmeyer Competes in the First Round of Tennis Sectionals
By Ally Kampel
Tennis sectionals began this week on Wednesday, October 2. Varsity tennis player, junior Laura Hofmeyer, played a Mercy student, the first round of sectionals at Mercy’s home court, Ryan Park. Hofmeyer played very good games and put up a tough fight. Unfortunately, Hofmeyer lost out of two games. Each game consists of six matches. In the first game, Hofmeyer won two out of the six matches, and in the second game she won one out of the six matches. Even though Hofmeyer did not win the games she was still happy to be able to compete. She states, “The Mercy girl who I played was a second singles player, and I was a third, meaning she is a level above me. Even though I lost it was a great experience to play with better competition.” Hofmeyer has the right attitude, and made the Saints proud. Good job Laura!
