Cross Country GGCLs 2013

On Saturday 12, Seton’s Cross Country Team ran at one of the most difficult courses in the city at Rapid Run Park. Although only the six GGCL teams were there to compete, the race had large importance. The varsity team ended up coming in fifth place, only beating Mount Notre Dame, The race was led by junior Gabby Hirlinger, junior Olivia Hess, and senior Abby Pace. A notable highlight from the varsity race includes a thirteenth place finish from Hirlinger, achieving a spot on second team All-League. Junior Varsity placed fifth place as well, led by junior Molly Henderson with a twenty-first place finish, followed by senior Sydney Schultz, and junior Jessica Rieskamp. The Open Team placed third. Sophomore Lauren Heidman, Junior Emily Hatting, and Senior Jessica Wuebbolt led the race for Seton.
Senior Day was also celebrated on Saturday where seniors Abby Pace, Jessica Wuebbolt, Sydney Schultz, Mikayla Hartoin, Julz Lucas, Kaylie Brown, and Brooke Schleben were honored. The seniors were given signed picture frames and decorated signs from their teammates. “Being a senior is an awesome feeling, but it’s also bitter sweet. It’s sad for me that the season is almost over. I will never forget the memories I have made with my team. I love them all so much!” said Schultz. For most of the team, GGCls was their last race, but this Saturday, the 19th, the top seven runners will compete at Districts taking place at Voice of America Park. The race will start at 11:30, admission is six dollars.
