One thing a lot of people enjoy to do around Halloween is going to haunted houses. One of the better known places to go is Halloween Haunt or also known as Fear Fest. Every Friday and Saturday nights Kings Island transforms from a fun, friendly, family environment to a terrifying, but thrilling amusement park filled with haunted houses and spine-chilling mazes. Some of these mazes include the slaughter house, urgent scare, tombstone terror-tory, and corn stalkers. Halloween Haunt is guaranteed to get you in the spirit of Halloween with creatures around every corner.
Another very well-known haunted house is the Dent School House. The Dent School was once a successful school. However, in 1942, several students mysteriously began to disappear. All were last seen at the school. Police investigated and found nothing. Then, two years later, four more students went missing and residents around the school were confused and terrified. Rumors began to spread and the public was beginning to think the school had something to do with it. Students kept disappearing and students began to complain about a strange smell that was coming from the basement. Charlie, a janitor at the school claimed it was just the pipes clogging. New rumors then started going around that Charlie was responsible for the disappearing children. Finally a mob of people went into the basement and found the decaying remains of the missing students. The janitor was never found, but it is said that his spirit still cleans the old building. The Dent School house is open every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 pm to 12 am and also on Sundays and Thursdays from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. With its new feature the Queen City Slaughter Yard, the Dent school house has been ranked number 11 on the annual list of the top 13 haunted houses in the country.
If haunted houses, creepy mazes filled with creatures, and scary janitors are not for you don’t worry there is still plenty to do. There is always pumpkin carving, pumpkin patches, and decorating. Halloween is a holiday full of fun and if you have yet to do any of these things to prepare for the eerie holiday, Halloween, be sure to try out any of these things.
