Pennies for Pumpkins
By Molly Kraisinger
Art club held their annual pumpkin decorating contest on Thursday, October 31. Eighteen students created a unique pumpkin. Art teacher, Margie Metz, said, “I was very impressed with the amount of pumpkins we had turned in.” All pumpkins were in a variety of colors and themes. They ranged from a wrapped mummy, a green Frankenstein, to the lovable Disney character, Stitch. Pumpkins were displayed on a table in the cafeteria. Students and staff were encouraged to cast their vote with pennies for their favorite creation during their lunch bell. One particular “Tiger” pumpkin, created by Katie Jacobs, caught the voters’ eyes. Jacob’s bucket collected a total of $13 worth of pennies. In total the contest raised thirty two dollars. This money will be used to purchase art supplies and toys for needy children.
