Winter Showcase of Dance
By Monica Lepper
The Seton Dance Teams are having their third annual winter showcase of dance in the new gym at Seton on Sunday, December 8. The teams performing are the twinkles, minis, juniors and varsity. Freshman Jessica Lee from the junior dance team comments on the performance saying “I’m super excited to perform at Seton opposed to our other performances at other places. I’m also looking forward and hoping for an undefeated season in jazz.” The juniors have two girls with contemporary solos for this performance. There are two shows on Sunday, the first at 1:00p.m. and the other at 3:00p.m. This showcase is an opportunity for friends and family of the dancers to watch their routines without the crazy, hectic competition setting.
The showcase is the start of many performances for the varsity, all leading up to the Dance Team National Championships in Orlando, Florida. Senior Megan Kelly said, “Performing for our loved ones is always exciting for us. It’s a nice break from the stress of judges and competition. It’s also a good preparation for nationals, for the varsity; because we perform both routines twice, and at nationals – if we do as good as we hope to do – we will be performing both routines three times.”
Tickets are five dollars and available at the door or for presale through Samantha Monahan at Samantha.firstname.lastname@example.org . Only 750 tickets will be sold, so do not miss this chance to see your Seton Highlighters in a non-stressful environment.
