Holiday Door Decorating Contest
By Jessica Wuebbolt
The annual door decorating contest at Seton took place again this year from December 9th-13th. All decorating had to be final by Friday, December 13th so judging could take place on Monday, December 16th. It’s been a tradition for the past ten years for the main office administrators, Mrs. Roos, Mrs. Luebbe, and Mrs. Doll to judge all the homeroom’s doors. Voting on the best hallway design took place by the whole school in a survey. Designs on all the doors ranged from all things Christmas such as Santa, reindeer, and snowmans. The Decorations on the doors were very creative, with materials from construction paper to lights to plastic cups. Students also participated in hallway decorations separated by student council grade levels. Senior student council had the first floor with the traditional theme of the twelve days of Christmas. Some phrases this year included, 11 hours of procrastinating, 9 conduct points for Tumblr, twelve grand ole years together, and 1 state champion. The juniors had the second floor and their theme included famous phrases from traditional holiday movies. Some quotes they had were from The Christmas Story, Charlie Brown, and the Grinch. The sophomore’s floor was the ground floor. The freshman decorated the third floor with decorations hanging from the ceiling and tinsel along the walls. Senior, Hannah Nartker says seeing all the Christmas decorations in the hallways really gets her in the spirit. Nartker states, “Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and it’s really fun to see Seton go all out and get into the spirit.” The annual door decoration contest always brings great Christmas cheer and spirit to the halls of Seton.
This year, the grade level winner of the hallway decorations was the juniors. Freshman homeroom winner was Mrs. Gilday. Sophomore homeroom winner was Mrs. Teresa Johnson. Junior homeroom winner was Mrs. Hushart. Senior homeroom winner was Mrs. Turpin. All homeroom winners received free breakfast.
