Snowy Saints Finish Second Indoor Track Meet at Ohio State University
By Sydney Schultz
The Snowy Saints headed to Columbus to compete in the Ohio State University Buckeye High School Qualifier on Saturday, February 1. It was the team’s second indoor meet of the season, and the team proved to everyone that their hard work is paying off.
Highlights from Saturday include junior Maria Torok’s 1:03.98 in the 400m dash. This placed her 7th out of 55 runners. Torok was also the first Cincinnati finisher in this event. Torok is only tenths of a second off the 200 and 400 school records.
Sophomore Anna Schoster tied senior Courtney Schira’s indoor pole vault record of 8’0 and placed 11th in the first vault competition of this season.
Junior Gabrielle Kraemer was the first person in school history to compete in the triple jump at an indoor meet, so she enters the record book with a jump of 28-6, which placed her 10th in the meet.
In her first meet ever, Senior Jessica Frey competed in the 55 meter dash. Frey competed well finishing only 0.4 seconds off of alumni Kaitlyn Cappel’s 60 meter dash record.
“I’m really excited that I did well in my first meet. I had no idea what to expect and now I’m more than ready for the outdoor season to begin” said Frey.
