Let the Countdown Begin, Seniors!
By Sydney Schultz
It seems like just yesterday we entered Seton as freshmen on our first day of high school. It’s hard to believe that as seniors, our first day as students here was in 2010. I’m sure we all remember being nervous on our first day, walking around with our schedule in our hands trying not to get lost while traveling from class to class, scared to find friends to sit with at lunch, and being worried about the transition from grade school to high school. It’s been nearly 1,284 days since the start of our journey here at Seton, and in just a few short months our journey here will be coming to an end.
Over the past four years, we have grown together as a class. We have endured numerous hours of homework, projects, service, retreats, and Kairos, and stuck together and strengthened friendships during all of it. We have almost survived high school, and although we are all eager to start college and begin the rest of our lives, some day we will look back on our high school years and wish that time could have slowed down. I think I can speak for us all when saying that we will all miss being young and in high school when we are old and reminiscing on old times. Although school has been challenging, I believe it has been the best, and fastest, four years of my life, and many people can relate to that as well. Senior Olivia Selle said, “I think that high school has gone by so fast and I can’t believe that the end of the year is so close. I feel like I was just a freshman and now I’m ready to go off to college and live on my own. Crazy how four years can go by so quickly.”
Although we have made countless memories over the past four years, it is almost time to break away and discover who we truly are and who we are meant to be outside of a high school setting. Leaving Seton and parting ways with good friends will be bittersweet, but in the long run, it will be one of the most rewarding and best experiences that life has to offer.
So let the countdown begin seniors! The past four years have definitely flown by fast, but the rest of senior year is going to go by even faster. As of Friday, February 28, there are 14 days until the end of the third quarter, 40 days until the premier of Shrek the Musical, 46 days until Easter Break, 51 school days until Senior Project presentations, 80 days until Spirit Day and the awards assembly, and 90 days until graduation, which is 60 school days. Graduation will be here before we know it.
Let’s make the most of the rest of our senior year and leave Seton with a bang! High school will be over in the blink of an eye.
