Archdiocese Choral Festival

The Archdiocese Choral Festival was held at Seton High School on Tuesday, February 25 and Wednesday, February 26. Grade schools from across the archdiocese of Cincinnati performed one to two songs in front of an audience that included two judges. The choirs were judged based on their annunciation, blend, projection, and overall performance. The purpose of the choral festival is not to harshly criticize these choirs, but give them constructive criticism and experience to grow as performers and learn performance skills.
The choirs that performed were All Saints, St. Martin of Tours, St. Bernard Taylor Creek, St. Mary Hyde Park, Our Lady of Visitation, St. Veronica, St. Clement, St. Jude, Mother Teresa, Our Lady of Grace, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of Lourdes, and St. Lawrence.
Notably absent from the choral festival were Seton High School Concert Choir and Elder High School Glee Club. When asked about this, Seton choral director, Maribeth Samoya, said “With the number of school days missed due to snow, and Talent Show and Celebrate Seton all happening in the same week, it was too much for any of the high school groups to perform in the choral fest this year “.
Although Seton and Elder did not perform, the festival was fantastic. Congratulations to all who sang.
