Time to Find the Perfect Prom Dress
By Kaylie Brown
Every year around this time, it seems there are more computer screens filled with dresses other than school work and a lot of talk about one of the greatest nights in high school: prom. Prom is a pretty stressful topic and takes a lot of planning before the night takes place. Girls struggle with who to ask to be their date, how to ask them, the dinner reservations, and most importantly, finding the perfect dress.
Finding the perfect dress sometimes isn’t easy and can take weeks of scrolling through endless pages on your laptop, but can be done if you’re looking in the right places. It might even be easier to look for dresses the “old fashioned way” and go to prom stores or browse at the mall for a nice dress. This way it might seem like a limited amount of options, but you can be sure the dress will fit. The only problem with shopping online is that the dress may not fit correctly when it arrives or it may take too long to come in the mail. Once it comes in the mail, there’s a high chance that if it’s a long dress you’ll need it altered, even if you plan on wearing heels. Overall, if you plan on ordering a dress online, the earlier the better off you’ll be.
Now where can you find dresses? It depends on the type of style you have. Over the past few years it has been accepted to wear more casual dresses to prom like dresses from Lulus.com, Tobi.com, Revolveclothing.com, Xenia.com, and Ardenb.com. Ardenb also has a store at Kenwood Mall. These stores carry nice dresses that are for the most part short dresses, but carry some long too.
If you are looking for a dress that is a little fancier than prom boutiques, you might want to look at prom websites and designer stores. Some websites include bloomingdales.com, promgirl.com, and stores that can be found in Cincinnati like camillelavie.com, kotsovosbrialfursandprom.com, bridalandformalinc.com, Davidsbridal.com, and bcbg.com. The department stores such as Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, and Dillard’s also carry prom dresses.
Want a nice prom dress but don’t want to spend a lot of money? Renttherunway.com might be worth a try. Rent the Runway is a website where you can rent a nine hundred dollar dress for seventy dollars and wear it to your special event. Prices range depending on the designer and type of dress. This site is reliable and you are guaranteed a clean dress. The only downside about Rent the Runway is that you can’t keep your prom dress, but to some people that might not matter.
Prom is sneaking up in April on the 5 for Elder, 25 for Seton. Dinner reservations for the special night should be made ASAP, especially if you plan on eating at Newport! Some of these stores might be worth a look to get you closer to finding the perfect dress.
