The Seton Track and Field official 2014 tryouts will begin on Monday, March 10. Anyone is welcome to tryout.  On March 10, tryouts will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.at the PAC. Everyone must have a current physical to tryout. Wednesday, March 12 will be the last day of tryouts. Team captains will be announced and members will have a chance to order track and field team apparel. The spirit shop closes at midnight.

The team has been hard at work during their off season. Runners have been practicing since the beginning of November preparing for their upcoming season.  All sprinters, long distance runners, mid-distance runners, and throwers have been training with their assigned coaches each week. All event coaches are skilled and experienced, providing great insight and coaching methods for the girls.

Coaches and runners are excited for this season. Senior long distance runner Abby Pace said, “I’m so pumped for my last season on the track team. It’s so cool seeing everyone improve and seeing new athletes come to the team.”

The team has many key runners. The long distance group is looking forward to seeing senior Abby Pace, and juniors Gabby Hirlinger and Olivia Hess compete in the half mile, mile, and two mile. The mid-distance group also has a strong set of runners. Senior Kaylie Brown and junior Molly Henderson will be running in the quarter mile and the half mile. Sprinters who are bound to have a good season are seniors Jessica Frey and Samantha Goodwin, as well as juniors Kelsey Kurzhals and Maria Torok, who will all be competing in the 200m and quarter mile. Senior Ellie Hahn and junior Alyssa Ramsteter are throwers who have been strong members of the team and will continue to be this year. In addition, senior Loretta Blaut and junior Gab Kramer are jumpers who will make a huge difference for the team. Blaut won the Ohio State Championship for high jump in 2013, clearing five feet seven inches, although her personal best is five feet nine inches

The track and field team is hoping several team members will break many school records this year, and that the team as a whole will show rivalry schools that Seton is stronger than ever and are ready to compete at all meets. The team’s first meet is the JV Elder Skyline Relays on Tuesday, April 1 at Elder’s PAC. Good luck to all girls at tryouts!
