On Thursday April 10, the Seton JV Track Team competed in the Mcauley Mohawk Invitational meet held at LaSalle high school. Going into the meet, the goal was to come in one of the top places. For most of the meet, Mercy was in first place, but Seton’s 1-2 performances in the 100, 200, and discus were too much for any other team to match. Other teams in the meet included, Mount Notre Dame, St Ursula, Mcauley, and Colerain. Seton came in first with a score of 128. Coming in first for the first JV meet was a huge accomplishment for the track team and means potential for the future varsity team.

Throughout the meet, Seton had many first place finishers.  In the 100 meter dash junior Lauren Lipps and freshman Kaille Brown came in first and second with times of 13.42 and 13.45 seconds. In the 200 meter dash sophomore Stacey Kramer and freshman Journi Moore came in first and second with times of 28.87 and 29.14 seconds. In the 4×100 meter relay Seton’s A team came in first with a final time of 54.75 seconds. In the discus throw junior Shannon Kaine and senior Courtney Reed came in first and second with scores of 74-03 and 71-08. Runners in the Mid-Distance JV group all earned a personal record in the meet. Sophomore Mackenzie Dugan beat her previous time by six seconds for an 800 meter run time of 2:47. In the 1600 meter run, all of the JV Seton girls earned new Personal Records. Sophomore Sammie Moore took 16 seconds off of her mile run with a time of 6:18 minutes. When asked about her new PR, Moore replied, “”I was really excited about getting a PR in my last race because I have been working hard and this showed that my hard work has paid off.”

Both JV and Varsity Track will be competing in the South Oldham/Seton Dual held in Louisville on April 16. The purpose of this meet will be for everyone to try something new from their normal event.
