As the Lacrosse season comes an end, Saints have a good record. With one game left against Summit Country Day before tournament games begin, varsity has won 6 games and lost a total of 7. Saints played Bexley in Columbus on Saturday May 3, losing 6-12. Saints redeemed themselves with two victories on May 7 and 8 against Kings High School and Cincinnati Country Day.
Wednesday, May 7 was the first Saint’s victory winning by four with the final score 12-8. Offenders Carly Stagge, Cire Brock, Taylor Frommeyer, and Michelle Moehring were an assist to the twelve goals. The first half the Saints gained possession and were able to stay ahead of Kings. Sophomore Lauren Heidiman who plays mid field said, “It was a great game. Everyone was playing one hundred percent and hustling at every opportunity they could. I was really proud of everyone who played and the sidelines who cheered us on.”
Thursday, May 8 the Saints pulled in another win, beating Cincinnati Country Day 8-10. This was definitely a more competitive game. CCD was one goal behind the Saints almost the entire game. By the second half, Saints kept possession of the ball and were two goals ahead of CCD. The temperature was 84 degrees so each player had to keep hydrated as the hot sun beat down on them. Captain Colleen O’Connor said, “We’ve had a great past two games and I am glad that we bounced back from some of the harsh losses that we had from some of the past teams. We really needed to gain more confidence in ourselves as a team and these past two games helped us accomplish that. I look forward to the start of tournament games and hope we can continue to win.”
Saints play at Summit Country Day on Saturday, May 10 at 1:15 PM. This is their last in-season game and they will begin their tournament season on Monday, May 12.
