Track and Field: Walnut Hills Invitational

On Friday May 2, the Seton track team competed at the Walnut Hills Invitational. The Walnut Hills Invitational is a large meet with a lot of competition including the teams from St. Ursula, Highlands, Sycamore, Hughes, Walnut Hills, Cin. College Prep, Felicity Franklin, North College Hill, Mercy, Gamble Mont, Summit Country Day, and Purcell Marian. The Saints competed in the meet starting with field events at 4:15 PM followed by running events. The meet ended around 9:30 PM. In first place was Walnut Hills, and St. Ursula in second beating Seton by only point five (.5) points, granting the Saints a third place finish. Senior Jessica Frey said, “ Getting third place by only .5 points was disappointing, but the team is going to work even harder at the next few meets to get as many points as possible and surprise everyone.” Seton had a quality meet and many great performances includingGabrielle Kraemer and Anna Schoster who placed third and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles, Courtney Schira and Anna Schoster placed second and third in the pole vault, Alyssa Ramstetter placed second in the shot put and discus, Ellie Hahn placed fifth in the shot put, Shannon Kaine placed sixth in the discus, Loretta Blaut and Gabrielle Kraemer scored in the high jump placing first and seventh , Kelsey Kurzhals placed first in the 100 meter dash and third in the 200 meter dash, Maria Torok and Sam Goodwin both scored in the 400 meter dash placing first and fifth place, and lastly the meet ended with a win from the 4×4 relay team including Jessica Hayhow, Stefanie Autenrieb, Kaylie Brown, and Maria Torok. The track season is coming to a close for the Saints in the new few weeks, and they are striving to qualify for the State meet. The next meets will be Best of The West on May 8 for varsity and May 10 for JV.
