On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, the Latin Department of Seton High School held its 31st Annual Classics Fair in Seton’s library. All year long Latin students have prepared for this day by researching a wide range of topics centered around the Roman culture. In front of three judges consisting of teachers and volunteers, Latin students delivered informative speeches on some aspect of Roman culture. Project themes consisted of the following; muses, influence of Greece and Rome on modern life, foods and meals, art, religion and mythology, holidays and celebrations, Harry Potter, Latin phrases in common English, positions of women, and the U.S. Legal System and Latin. Several students dished out foods or displayed other visual aids to enhance their presentations.  Judges then determined a score on a 1-5 scale based on creativity, organization, and proficiency, and returned helpful feedback. The awards presented are listed below:

Although the Latin Fair grants no individual first place award, the yearlong effort and academic achievement exercised by all participants was a rewarding experience in itself.
