How to Make the Most Out of this Winter Season
By Emilee Poehner
Hello! This is my take on what is best for you and your holiday season! Enjoy!
This winter you should try and make the most of our two week break! Live it up! Now that exams are over and you can get more than four hours of sleep a night, #blessed, and you can finally take the time to catch up on your self-beauty routine. Learn how to soothe dry skin, prevent static hair, and pamper yourself just when you really need to. Use a mild shampoo for dry hair, and always use conditioner, which gets rid of negative ions, to get rid of those flyaway hairs. To keep skin from flaking, avoid products that contain alcohol, which is drying. Instead, use a gentle cleanser and switch to a richer moisturizer, such as Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Moisturizing Cream. The thin skin covering the hands is particularly susceptible to dehydration during the winter. Protect it by wearing gloves outdoors and using rubber gloves when doing dishes. And each time you wash your hands, moisturize afterward, no one wants dry, nasty skin.
Fashion tip: creative gloves, hats, and scarfs are in and always help keep you nice and warm! Cozy up with these delicious cold-weather beverages. Try these new and festive drinks at home! Chi Tea, this café favorite is easier to make than you think; simply bring crushed spices, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and milk to a boil, add tea bags, and let steep for 10 minutes. Eggnog is a must, you will feel straight out of a Christmas movie drinking this is your super cute Christmas sweaters. Change up your favorite hot chocolate by adding malted milk powder and broiled marshmallows. Of course all of us will be seen at our local Starbucks sipping on that warm Peppermint Mochas.
To get a more thrill rush time there are a few places around town that can help with that. The new and improved ice skating rink downtown is a sure fit! Plus on Saturdays you can skate while watching Santa repel down buildings! If you are more athletic than most Perfect North is a perfect place for you to get your skiing and snowboarding on. For those who enjoy the wind in your luscious dry, winter, hair Perfect North does offer tubbing or you can always go to your favorite childhood hill and sled ride down it!
Looking for a complete packed Christmas day? Well here is your guild to the perfect one. First you have to spend the whole day in your pajamas, so cute and super cozy! Pick out your favorite Christmas movies and watch them all day one (personal favorite is Elf), in-between the movies, bake as many cookies as possible (it is acceptable to eat them all yourself too!) Once the cookies are made, cut out snowflakes and hang them all over your house! As the night goes on grab your besties and hop in your car, turn on that fire Christmas playlist and drive all over town looking at the beautiful Christmas lights.
Last, defiantly not least, spend time with your love ones. The ones who warm your heart with their presences not presents. Live in the moment this holiday season. Happy Holidays my Seton Sisters!
